Study Shows 90% of Religious-Themed Token Creators Have Never Seen Inside of Church, Just 'Like the Aesthetics'
In a groundbreaking study that absolutely no one needed, researchers have discovered that most creators of religious-themed tokens have learned their theology exclusively from anime and medieval Twitter art accounts.
The investigation, conducted by the Institute of Token Demographics (ITD), revealed that the average religious token developer's understanding of spirituality comes primarily from "that one time they watched Constantine" and "various Discord profile pictures featuring angels with too many eyes."
"Look, I just think church architecture is ultra aesthetic," explained the anonymous creator of $HOLY_GAINZ, whose whitepaper consists entirely of AI-generated stained glass windows and the words "blessed be thy bags" repeated 777 times. "Plus, Latin makes everything sound more bullish."
The study specifically highlighted the case of @DaVinci_Rug.eth, creator of $DIVINE_SIGNAL, who claimed his token was "inspired by deep religious contemplation" but was later caught asking his Telegram group if Moses was "the one with the boat or the one with the tablets."
Other notable findings include:
- One dev launched $CONFESSION after discovering Catholic aesthetic TikTok
- $MONK's entire roadmap was based on what the creator saw in "Kung Fu Panda"
- The $PAPAL team thought "communion" was a type of yield farming strategy
The phenomenon reached peak absurdity when the creator of $ENLIGHTENED admitted they thought Gregorian chants were "just medieval lofi beats to study to."
"We're seeing an interesting trend," noted lead researcher Dr. Faith Analytica, while swiping through an endless stream of tokens featuring badly AI-generated religious imagery. "These devs can write complex smart contracts but somehow think the Holy Trinity is a triple-token liquidity pool."
The situation has gotten so out of hand that actual religious scholars have started a support group called "No, Your Token Isn't Actually Biblical." Their first meeting was immediately tokenized as $CLERGY, prompting several members to question their career choices.
Meanwhile, a group of monks who recently discovered crypto have expressed interest in launching their own token, but are struggling because "complete silence and diamond hands are fundamentally incompatible."
In related news, someone just launched $THOUGHTS_AND_PRAYERS, a token that automatically generates yield every time someone posts "gm" in their Telegram group. Their Discord server now holds daily "virtual services" where members chant "up only" in what they believe is ancient Latin.
At press time, three different devs were engaged in a heated Twitter Space debate about whether staking is technically usury, while simultaneously launching competing tokens about their argument.
